With the WSOP in full swing, one would’ve expected the
high stakes online poker tables to go action-less for a while, but that was obviously not the case. Several high stakes regulars used to lull to their advantage, turning in surprise performances and taking home hundreds of thousands of dollars.
One of these players was EireAbu, who finished last week as the biggest winner, behind profits totaling a staggering $542.5k. He played 167 sessions for it though, totaling 17,640 hands.
There were other impressive winners too. David Eldar finished the same period with a $285.7k profit. Ben Sulsky made the winners’ circle too: he finished an impressive $267k above the red line. Another player who surpassed the $200k profit mark was Cort Kibler-Melby.
The relative lull in action gave some thus far unknown players the opportunity to step into the limelight, albeit some of them stood out in all the wrong ways. Mikki696 for instance clinched an honor he most definitely hadn’t aimed for: he became the biggest loser of the week, having dropped $283k over 98 sessions and 5,119 hands.
Alexey Makarov didn’t have a much better week either: he finished well below the red line, to the tune of $217k in fact, having played 4,232 hands spread over 52 different sessions.
A player knows as ‘glosik’ and Viktor Blom finished in the L column as well.
Thursday belonged to Ilari Sahamies, who won almost $300k having played only 700 hands. Most of that money came from Ben Tollerene, who lost a $57.8k monster among others.
EireAbu stepped forth on Sunday, hitting the $50/$100 PLO tables and taking home $125k at the end of the day. Sunday produced two other significant winners: PimpyLimpy finished with an $87k profit and bernard-bb took down $80k.
The biggest pot of the day ended up in patpatman’s possession. The profits he scored during the week propelled EireAbu straight back to the top of the yearly leader board.
