Online Poker Action - Galfond Week's Biggest Loser

These days, as the online nosebleed stakes volumes continue to suffer (at least in comparison to what would today be considered online poker's golden age), the "name" pros driving the action seem to be taking turns being the biggest winners and losers week in and week out. Phil Galfond's name surfaced in the W column quite consistently lately, but this week, he was the one who dropped the most money. Last week fit well into the "slowdown" narrative. The two players who proved to be the main catalysts of the action so far this year, Phil Ivey and Ilari Sahamies, were both missing. Sahamies was in Malta for the EPT, while Ivey had apparently decided to take a breather from the online tables. Viktor Blom and Phil Galfond stepped up instead, but in hindsight, they're probably now wishing they hadn't. They both ended up on the wrong side of Lady Luck's caprices, dropping tons of money and becoming the two biggest losers of the week.

Galfond lost some $232.7k, logging only 977 hands spread over just two sessions. Wherever there are losers though, there are inevitably some winners too. Last week, BBvisbadforme was the one who ended up with the biggest profit. He took down $169.5k, in just 269 hands, over two sessions. Mikael Thuritz was one of the winners too: his profits totaled $89.4k. He played some 986 hands, spread over 5 different sessions.
At PokerStars, the biggest winner was NoelHayes, who took down $71k. Hayes was the most diligent of all those featured on this list: he logged 3,635 hands, over 22 different sessions, but he did indeed have something to show for it in the end.
