Online Poker Action – Ivey’s Hot Run

Phil Ivey has been doing well at the nosebleed stakes
online poker tables since the beginning of the week, but over the last couple of days, he really let loose. Over the course of only 48 hours, he recorded profits totaling $736.8k. The interesting thing about it was that he only logged 1,126 hands for that haul, quite an efficient run indeed. The 1,126 hands were split into 16 different sessions though, which covered a handful of poker variants.
Ivey’s run began on Monday, when he became the day’s biggest winner by taking quite a bit of money away from NiklasHeinecker and Viktor Blom. Everything accounted for, he finished the day with a $244.1k profit. The apparent key to Ivey’s success was that he put in many short sessions, although he got into a little bit of verbal scuffle with SallyWoo, one of the high stakes regulars, because he refused to offer him “real action”.
Eventually, SallyWoo refused to play Ivey, but it didn’t really matter in the large scheme of things as Ivey found another opponent in Kyle Ray, who dropped around $161k to him at the Fixed Limit Omaha 8 tables.
Thursday was another excellent day for Ivey: he played a selection of players which again included Kyle Ray, who once again dropped a massive amount of money to him. He also took money from RookieNFL at the $500/$1k Capped
NL Holdem tables. At the end of the day, Ivey found his bankroll $492.7k bigger, making a total of $736.8k over Wednesday and Thursday. Needless to say, that made him by far the biggest winner of the above said 2 days. Sanlker also turned a nice profit, finishing with about $218k. WCGIRider was the biggest winner at PokerStars during that same period, with a profit of $202.4k.
