Online Poker Action – The Rich Get Richer…

Over the last couple of weeks, the
online poker action raged on without respite, featuring some of the usual protagonists, in their usual roles. Germany’s Niklas Heinecker has been on a serious roll lately. He had amassed several million dollars in profits at the online cash tables at
Full Tilt Poker before the period covered in this piece, and over the last couple of weeks, he’s been keeping the pedal to the metal. For three weeks preceding the last two, Heinecker amassed some $4.65 million. During the last couple of weeks, he added $1.26 million to that already impressive tally. For his latest profit-batch, the German logged 3,708 hands spread over 38 different sessions – quite a handsome effort indeed.
Needless to say, the $1.26 million was more than enough to make Heinecker the top winner of the last couple of weeks.
While Heinecker’s performance was indeed quite jaw-dropping, he didn’t hog all the limelight. Viktor Blom and Gus Hansen drew quite a bit of attention too, although they did it for the wrong reasons: they both ended up big losers, which – at least in Hansen’s case – wasn’t exactly surprising. The Great Dane seems bent on setting a new “biggest loser of the year” record. Already struggling with record-setting losses, Hansen added some $1.41 million to the wrong side of his tally over the last two weeks. Blom lost even more: he dropped $1.43 million, having put in 14,863 hands spread over 157 sessions – a genuine marathon of a run indeed.
Everything accounted for, Heinecker is currently the biggest winner of the year, with $5.92 million in profits. Ben Tollerene is second with a little over $3 million.
Gus Hansen is the biggest loser, having dropped a pretty incredible $8.58 million this year. “samrostan” is second with $4.4 million in losses.
