Online Poker happenings – Niki Jedlicka makes serious money

Despite the fact that most of the nose-bleed stakes online pros remained to play live at Bobby’s room, the online scene finally came alive in the wake of the WSOP Main Event. The $200/$400 PL Omaha tables bore the brunt of the action as numerous pros descended upon them, followed by hundreds of railbirds.
Niki Jedlicka, a young Austrian player was the man of the week. He took down a seven-figure sum in winnings, money which mostly came from Patrik Antonius at the PLO tables.
Following a lull caused by the WSOP, high stakes online action shifted into high gear during last week. Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Ilari Sahamies, Jani Vilmunen, Richard Ashby and Brian Townsend were all there, not to mention Niki Jedlicka. There were 6-8 $200/$400 or $300/$600 tables active all through the day and night, pretty much all through the week.
The interesting thing about the $200/$400 PLO tables, which by the way may seem small stakes for those who have seen these guys play really high before, is that they feature antes. Blinds and antes are the catalysts of all action, and when you have them this size, the pot is certain to reach a nose-bleed size every time.
Wednesday and Thursday were indeed Jedlicka’s Days. In a 24 hour period, he picked up around $1 million in winnings. The following day, he came back for more and took down the three biggest pots of the day. Of course, luck was part of the equation once again. A $242,000 pot saw Antonius’ 8s full of 3s go up against Jedlicka’s flopped 8s full of 6s. That obviously cost the Finn his entire stack. Jedlicka then proceeded to crack his pocket rockets by hitting the nut flush on the river of another hand which resulted in another monster pot (a $247,000) one finding its way into his stack.
The biggest pot that Jedlicka managed to peel off the Finn was a $563,300 one. It all happened at a $300/$600 PLO table, which featured a $100 ante. Jedlicka began the hostilities with a $2,000 bet, which Antonius promptly raised to $6,200. Feeling on top of the wave, Jedlicka made it $18,800 and the Finn called to see the flop. The Jc,8s,3d which fell, prompted Jedlicka to fire out a $28,750 bet. Antonius called that too and they saw the turn fall a 9s. The action suddenly came to a halt there as both of them checked to see the river. The last card on the board was a 10s and Antonius checked once again. Jedlicka pounced on him betting $62,450.
Antonius made it $234,000 and Jedlicka called him. Antonius then showed a J-high straight against Jedlicka’s Q-high flush and the pot was shipped over to the Austrian once again.
Tom Dwan was another big winner, PLO-ing his way to a $800,000 payday or rather pay-week. Di Dang continued his winning ways over at the $200/$400 PLO tables as well. He took home $400,000 for the week, keeping his winning streak alive.
