The
online poker weekend was punctuated – as usual – by the high buy-in guaranteed prize-pool events that most of the bigger online poker rooms ran. This time though, it would all be a little bit different: a “name” player would not only make it to the final table of one of these events, this time, she’d walk away with the top prize.
Annette Obrestad, playing under the name “Annette_15”, took home the top prize in PokerStars’ Sunday 500, having bested a starting field of 997 entrants. The buy-in for the event was $500+$30 and the guaranteed prize-pool was a $500k one.
Obrestad bested Christian Harder heads-up for the win, picking up $87,400 for her efforts. Harder took down a prize of $63,500.
Another noteworthy finish was that of Harrison Gimbel, who pocketed $10k for his 8th place.
The biggest bang of the weekend was the
PokerStars Sunday Million of course, and as pretty much always, it was that event that gave birth to the biggest online poker winner of the weekend. Following a 2 way deal at the top, player zwuerbs walked away with a cool $230,852. 10IsTheYear finished second for $191,387. Andrew Brown became a 6-figure winner as well, finishing 3rd, for $121,800.
The event saw an impressive number of 8,120 players belly up to its tables at kick-off. The prize-pool was $1,624,000.
Notable finishes were those of Bryan Devonshire (10th) and Adam Fyshe (11th).
The Sunday Warmup attracted a more than reasonable starting field as well. 4,121 players coughed up the $200+$15 buy-in, to combine for a prize-pool of $824,200. This
poker tournament saw a deal at the top as well. Player “masterpiece” emerged with the win at the end of it, taking home $91,032. Dan Heimiller finished second for $114,235, becoming the only six-figure winner of the event. ProfRoscher finished 3rd, for a $88,049 reward.
Casey Jarzabek was one of the notables to finish near the top. He took home $2,472 for his 16th place.
Full Tilt Poker’s $750k GTD was responsible for yet another 6 figure winner. Kirbynator pocketed $132,787 for his win, after he bested a starting field of 3,601 players. No deals were made in this event. Chris Moorman finished in 18th place for a $1,905 reward.
The Sunday Mulligan was won by Mike 12A. He took down a $50,985 prize.
