PartyPoker Premier League VII Lineup Set

PartyPoker’s invitation-only Premier League is indeed one of the highest profile live poker events of the year, at least from a television-perspective. With all the big names hacking away at each-others’ stacks, the event is indeed a highly marketable one, and set to kick off today, November 20, the full lineup has finally been announced. Featuring a buy-in of $125k, the Premier League will wrap up on November 26, handing its winner a $400k reward.
The PartyPoker Premier League VII field will feature the following players: Antonio Esfandiari, Brian Rast, Jason Koon, Sorel Mizzi, Daniel Cates, Jonathan Duhamel, Dan Shak, Phil Laak, Jeff Gross, Greg Mueller, Vanesa Selbst and Scott Seiver.
Greg Merson had been announced as a participant, but he has since cancelled. He said something important had come up for him, forcing him to cancel, but he was looking forward to playing in the next Premier League.

For the 7th edition of the elite event, the structure has been altered, in response to player suggestions. There will be 6 heats of 8 players each, which means that every one of the participants will play 4 matches. Players will pick up points based on their performance through this round. Those who finish within the top 4 will gain a final table seat automatically. The remaining two final table seats will be fought over by the remaining players in a series of heads-up matches.

The previous edition of the event, the Premier League VI, turned out to be a major success. The winner was Dan Shak, who got the better of Sam Trickett heads-up, picking up a $450k prize. From among the current participants, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Cates and Jonathan Duhamel played too, and they all reached the final table.
The Premier League VII takes place in the famous Playground Club hotspot in Montreal, which will also play host to the partypoker.net WPT Montreal, after the Premier League.
