After the massive software overhaul and re-branding effort which PartyPoker have undertaken over the last week or so, news broke the other day that the site was planning to get something additional accomplished on the live poker scene too.
Under the WPT’s National series,
PartyPoker will set up a Poker Tour within the UK, which will feature five stops. The Main Events of the PartyPoker-sponsored poker tour will feature a unique accumulator format.
The venue and the time of the first stop have already been set too: the Aspers Casino Westfield City will play host to the event, which will run from October 24 till October 27.
The accumulator format is a real innovation when it comes to attracting more players and actually offering them some flexibility in regards to the buy-in level. The accumulator was first introduced at the Aussie Millions and it turned out to be extremely popular with the players.
What it consists in, is basically this: let’s say there are 3 day 1 flights. Players are given the opportunity to buy into each and every one of these flights and to play in every one of them (or only in one or two of them – it’s their choice). At the end of day 1, all the chips earned by a player are added up and bagged, ready for him to use at the beginning of day 2.
The buy-ins for the Main Event Day 1 flight cost £200, but PartyPoker will of course provide online qualifiers through which players will be able to secure their seats for much less. Some of the PartyPoker satellites offer a single seat, while others offer a complete package, which includes two entries and some spending money on the side.
The PartyPoker WPT UK National Poker Tour will consist of 5 stops.
