PokerStars have pretty much always been the kings of the micro buy-in online tournament series, but PartyPoker have been on a roll lately, managing to pull off feats PokerStars were unable to duplicate (like breaking into the US online poker market via New Jersey). Indeed, increasingly emboldened by success,
PartyPoker have begun challenging the online poker giant in various other ways too.
Yesterday, they launched an online poker series called Pokerfest: Micro Turbo Edition, which is set to offer no fewer than 50 events, each and every one of them cheap, fast-paced and offering some pretty attractive potential ROI. The guarantee-total offered by the Micro Turbo Poker-fest is a respectable $50k. The series is obviously meant to build on the long-proven/tested formula of micro stakes tournament action, which has indeed been a rage at PokerStars for years.
According to Scott Baumstein of Team PartyPoker, the Pokerfest: Micro Turbo Edition isn’t just a series for the small-timers. Professionals playing in the big live events can also use it as a way to fill downtime if they happen to bust out of a tournament early.
The Pokerfest: Micro Turbo Edition isn’t just a fast-paced, cheap feast of action: it also covers a wide range of poker variants and formats like Holdem, Omaha and bounty tournaments.
The Deepstack Turbo Main Event – which takes place on February 2 – features a buy-in of $10 and a guarantee of $10k. Online satellites for this one are running from $2.
The Series, just like any respectable online series these days, also features a leader board, which offers as its top prize a $5k package to a WPT event of the winner’s choice. A total of 10 top leader board finishers shall be rewarded. Those placing 2nd-10th are given cash prizes.
The Pokerfest will also feature a series of interesting missions which add an all-new dimension to the entire series.
Sign up to PartyPoker today and make sure you take part in the Pokerfest: Micro Turbo Edition.
