Phil Ivey Becomes WSOP Bodog Darling

Despite holding the 7th chip leader position, Bodog is seeing more November 9 bets on Phil Ivey than anyone else.

When November comes and the final table of the 2009 WSOP reconvene Phil Ivey will be taking his seat with one of the smallest stacks at the table – in 7th position to be precise. However, despite this fact, Bodog Sportsbook bettors are making more bets on Ivey than anyone else.

There are hundreds of thousands of users of Bodog Sportsbook and when it comes to the November Nine they can bet on anything from the winner to the suit of particular cards. There was high betting traffic as soon as the table was set, but it seems to have eased off in the last few weeks; none the less, Bodog officials are expecting a huge surge when the November 7th date nears. As it stands chip leader, Darvin Moon is technically the favourite with odds of 1.7:1, whilst Phil Ivey who plays for Full Tilt Poker has odds of 4:1. The outside bet right now is James Akenhead of Britain with odds of 22:1.

Recently Bodog Sportsbook Manager, Richard Gardner commented:

"To win overall and also on head to head, the early money is on the name recognition of Phil Ivey…People really believe he will be able to last longer than Darvin Moon, which has moved the line down on Phil Ivey from +350 to +300."

Full Tilt Pro Phil Ivey will be by far the most experience player amongst the November 9; he has won 7 World Series of Poker bracelets, and has total winnings of nearly $9 million.
