Phil Ivey Wins 7th WSOP Bracelet

There aren't many people worldwide who can boast 7 WSOP bracelets, but that small group just got one man bigger; Phil Ivey takes down event #25 and his 7th bracelet.

Phil Ivey looked serious but pleased as he held up the 7th bracelet of his career having won it in event #25, $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo. One of the more difficult games of the tournaments because of the mix, 14 players out of the original 376 returned for day 3, the final day of the event. It was Jon "PearJammer" Turner who led the pack as the cards hit the table and Ivey was lagging way back behind.

By the time the final table was reached, the likes of Chad Brown and Frank Debus had hit the rail, and Steve Wong was the unfortunate bubble-boy for final table play. As the 8 reconvened, Turner was still well in the lead with 607,000 whilst Phil Ivey was second to bottom with just 217,000. This wasn't to last long however, and in fact it was a wonderful run of just 3 hands that put Ivey on top, 2 from Carlos Mortensen, and 1 from Turner himself.

Dinner came and went, and Turner was the first to fall after the break, going out in fifth place; Ivey was well over the million mark.  Ultimately it was Ming Lee and Ivey who would battle it out in heads up play, and a battle it was. The wins went back and forth with both even sitting on equal pots at one point. However the slow decline of Lee turned into the fast ascent of Ivey. Ivey won his second bracelet of this series, and his seventh in total.
