On line poker sites aren’t usually known for being a soft touch, but Americas Cardroom has a bigger heart than most and as such offers players a Bad Beat Jackpot.
A bad beat doesn’t mean loosing, it means loosing with a hand that should have been a winner. All players at all on line poker sites are familiar with the experience: you have a great hand, a hand that can’t be beaten...or at least that’s what you think. Let’s say quod 10s; really what are the chances of getting beaten on that! So you bet high. You’re surprised however when your opponent calls, or even raises you. You think maybe he doesn’t really know how to play holdem, so you just keep going. Turns out, your opponent knows very well how to play holdem and he’s got quad queens in his hand – Now that’s a bad beat! As some conciliation, if you’re playing at Americas Cardroom, you might not be completely out on your luck. The on line poker site offers its players the chance to benefit from a Bad Beat Jackpot.
The Americas Cardroom Bad Beat Jackpot comes into play when the losing hand is quad 8s or better and both hole cards are played. If this is the case the Bad Beat Jackpot gets paid out to the players on the table, with, you’ve got it, the loser getting the lions share. 30% of the Bad Beat Jackpot will go to the loser whilst the winner will get 20%; the remaining 50% of the jackpot will be divided between the other players at the table, the house and a deposit to the next jackpot amount.
In order to be eligible for the Americas Cardroom Bad Beat Jackpot payout the players of a particular table are required to have played at least one hand with a contribution to the Bad Beat Jackpot. The size of the jackpot depends not only on how much has been paid into it, but also at what stakes the bad beat occurs. A Bad Beat at a BBJP low stakes table will see 20% of the Bad Beat Jackpot released; a Bad Beat at a BBJP medium stakes table will see 50% released; whilst a Bad Beat at a BBJP high stakes table, which is $0.25/$0.50 or above, will see the full jackpot released.
