PokerStars Announce 2014 LAPT Dates

The end of the year is the perfect time to announce one’s plans for the New Year, and that apparently includes the organizers of the world’s top live poker tours. Indeed, it was only a few days ago that PokerStars announced the partial schedule for the upcoming stops of their UK and Ireland Poker Tour and now they went ahead and did the same for their Latin American Poker Tour. Unlike the UKIPT, the LAPT will run through 2014 and it will include a plethora of different stops in Latin America’s various hotspots, all of them featuring small buy-ins and potentially outstanding prize-pools.
According to David Carrion, president of the LAPT, the 6th season of the Tour was the most popular by far, showing a potential for growth few other poker tours could boast. For the upcoming season, suggestions from players have also been taken into account, and what resulted was a much-improved schedule, which held on to the re-entry features.
The yield season 6 produced both starting-fields- and prize-pool-wise will doubtlessly be difficult to top: The prize-pool-total hit the $9.7 million mark, and players from no fewer than 62 countries competed for their share of that haul. In the Main Events alone, more than 4k players took part, of whom a sizeable percentage (~25%) landed their seats through the online qualifiers run by
PokerStars.
The 7th season of the Tour is obviously aiming to leave the numbers produced by season 6 in the dust. Things kick off in March with the Vina Del Mar stop, which features a $1.7k buy-in. The Sao Paolo stop picks up the slack at the end of May. Panama City is up next, followed by a stop yet to be determined. Lima, Peru is next and the tour wraps up on November 26, with the start of the Punta del Este Main Event.
Sign up to PokerStars and make your way to the LAPT through one of their online qualifiers.
