PokerStars EPT London – Day 2 Report

Sunday saw the second day of the PokerStars EPT London wrap up. 5 levels were played, at the end of which Benny Spindler emerged with the chip lead. 417 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day. When the dust settled, only 159 players were left in contention.
Team PokerStars Pro was massively represented, after all, it wasn’t just any PokerStars sponsored event: it was one of the most prestigious ones. Sebastian Ruthenberg, Vanessa Rousso, Joe Hachem, Noah Boeken, Ville Wahlbeck and Ivan Demidov were all there among others.

Only Jason Mercier, Sebastian Ruthenberg and Ana Marquez were able to make it past the day though. The rest of the PokerStars pros all busted out. Given the high profile nature of the event, there were plenty of other ‘name’ players in the field as well. Scott Seiver, Cornel Cimpan, Dominik Nitsche, Jonathan Karamalikis, Nick Binger and Justin Bonomo all played too, and they bit the dust without an exception as well. Last year’s winner, David Vamplew attempted a title defense too, but he fell well short of the mark this time, hitting the rail with the rest of the eliminated.

Doyle Brunson had played extremely well on day 1, and he carried his good shape through to day 2 unaltered. He worked his stack up to over 200k chips and he finished the day on a healthy stack. He was obviously the biggest name left in the field at the end of the day. If his run continues on Day 3, we may yet see a deep finish or maybe even a victory from Tex Dolly.
Victor Blom’s brother, Sebastian also played, and he too managed to make it to day 3.
Other ‘name’ players who will return are Sorel Mizzi, Daniel Neilson, Jake Cody and James Mitchell. PokerStars’ Nacho Barbero will also be back for day 3 action. The money bubble is set to burst on day 3.
