PokerStars.it EPT San Remo – Day 1B Report

477 players showed up for the second day 1 flight of the EPT’s San Remo Main Event. Thus the starting field was taken to a grand total of 837. The players combined buy-ins to create a €3,734,694 prize-pool. Taylor Paur was the one who managed to finish with the largest stack. His 188,200 chips were enough to give him the overall chip lead. Brandon Cantu played well too. He finished with 180k chips.
The majority of the high profile pros chose to get going on the second day 1 flight. Team PokerStars enjoyed a massive representation yet again. Vanessa Selbst was joined by Johnny Lodden, Sandra Naujoks and Eugene Katchalov. All of these guys managed to survive the day 1 hurdle. They will be joined on Day 2 by Liv Boeree, the winner of last year’s EPT San Remo. Bryn Kenney, Melanie Weisner, Anton Wigg, McLean Karr and Ted Forrest also survived. Elio Fox, the New Yorker who has recently won the WSOPE’s Main Event in Cannes, was also among the survivors.

One of the most spectacular pots of the day ended up in Melanie Weisner’s possession, after a massive 3-way all-in.
Luigi Diana was the one who kicked off the action with a raise, promptly re-raised by Weisner who was sitting two seats behind Diana. Gianfranco Picone wasted no time in getting all his chips into the middle. Diana made the call and Weisner fired out another raise to feed the pot further. Eventually, the flop fell 2s,3d,5d and Weisner took the reins of the action with a smallish c-bet. Diana made the call and the Kc landed on the turn. The remaining chips went into the middle on the turn and the hands were tabled: Diana had Ah, Kh, Weisner had pocket rockets and Picone had a pair of Qs. The river landed a 7c and Weisner picked up the entire pot.
128 players will be paid.
