PokerStars’ SCOOP 2013 Set to Kick Off

PokerStars' SCOOP 2013 is starting tomorrow (Sunday, May 12) and it is looking to hand out more prizes than ever before. The three-tiered Spring Championship of Online Poker features a total guaranteed prize-pool of $40 million. Running from May 12 to May 26, this year’s SCOOP will feature 44 events. Each and every one of the 44 events will feature 3 buy-in tiers, which basically means that those playing in the SCOOP 2013 will have no fewer than 132 opportunities to grab a SCOOP championship. All eyes will of course be on the Main Event, which features a $10.3k buy-in and which – like always – is bound to attract droves of “name” competitors. That is not to say though that those of more meager means won’t be able to battle it out with the big boys.
The smallest SCOOP 2013 buy-ins will be just $5.5, which is indeed more than reasonable given the fact that it isn’t unrealistic to count on each and every one of the lower-tier SCOOP 2013 tournaments to well exceed its advertised guarantee.

The unique thing about this year’s SCOOP will be that for the first time ever, Zoom Poker events will be offered as well. To stimulate SCOOP participation, PokerStars have upped the stakes for the existing players by offering them a specially-crafted reload bonus deal. Those expecting the $40 million guaranteed prize-pool to be simply left in the dust will be glad to know that last year, the total resulting prize-pool was a $65.33 million one, indeed quite a bit more than the initial guarantee. The winner of the high buy-in Main Event was a player known only by his online moniker “GripDSNutz” who took home a $798.6k prize after a 3-way deal at the top.
