PokerStars’ TCOOP Starting Tomorrow

PokerStars’ Turbo Championship of Online Poker is set to start tomorrow, and the schedule does indeed look extremely promising. Kicking off on January 23, the 2014 TCOOP features no fewer than 50 events, covering a wide range of buy-in levels and game variants. The series wraps up on February 2, after it will have made quite a few online players significantly richer.
The total amount of guaranteed prize-pools offered by the 2014 TCOOP is a staggering $15 million. Needless to say, as it’s pretty much always the case at PokerStars, the guarantees are likely to be left in the dust, so the amount of money that will eventually find its way into players’ pockets will be much bigger than the advertised sum of the guarantees.

The TCOOP is a series which owes its popularity to several factors: on one hand, it offers events with low-enough buy-ins to allow all the rank and file players to take part. On the other hand, due to the turbo format of the entire series, events are extremely short. To date, the quickest ever TCOOP event clocked in at 1h37 minutes, so that’s obviously a huge draw for those who simply do not have the time to spend hours upon hours at the virtual green felt.
Satellites are already underway at PokerStars for every one of the 2014 TCOOP events.
The Series will culminate in a Main Event of course, which features a $700k buy-in (it’s obviously not for everyone), and offers a $2 million guarantee. What that basically means is that the winner is guaranteed to take home at least $300k, which is likely to be much more than that too.
The turbo format of the Series demands some strategy-changes on the part of the players. Ranges have to be expanded, but at the end of the day, a solid TAG approach is the way to go.
Sign up to PokerStars right now and make sure you qualify for their upcoming TCOOP. Some qualifiers are available from 22 cents.
