Premier League VI – Duhamel Leads

PartyPoker’s Premier League VI has just seen the second heat of its Group A wrap up, and the player who ended up winning it was online poker buff Daniel Cates. Cates had quite a comeback to pull off, given that he only managed to accrue 2 points in the first heat of the group. This time however, he rode to a triumphant top spot, collecting no fewer than 16 points for his efforts. Jonathan Duhamel, the actual leader of the Group, put in yet another strong performance in the second heat, finishing runner-up to Cates and picking up 11 points. Antonio Esfandiari on the other hand had a much tougher day: yet again, the poker pro who’s playing in his first ever Premier League, failed to get much going and he even managed to make his lackluster Day 1 performance look good, by finishing dead last and collecting exactly 0 points and $0 for his efforts. In the first heat, he finished 6th, collecting a rather shy 3 points and $6k.

Sam Trickett had a great heat 1 run, finishing second to Jonathan Duhamel and collecting a handsome 11 points and $22k. He started off the second heat on the right foot as well, and he was near the top of the pops until he hit a nasty snag and dropped down all the way to finish in 7th place, picking up 2 points and $4k. The two players responsible for Trickett’s heat 2 demise were Scott Seiver and Marvin Rettenmaier. Seiver has thus far put in a rather mellow performance: he finished the first heat last, and he closed out the second one in 5th place, collecting 4 points.
Phil Hellmuth, the other Premier League first-timer, finished 4th in the second heat, on the tails of a 5th place performance in the first one.
