The 2014 edition of the Aussie Millions, one of the top beginning-of-the-year events, is in full swing and a number of players have already earned their stripes. One of these players was Vic Spadavecchia, one of the local competitors, who managed to best a starting field of 1,211 players in the opening event of this year’s Series, walking away with the top prize of AU$215k, the bragging rights and a championship ring too, not to mention a Rolex watch.
Three more events have gone into the books since the opening of the Series which of course means three more winners.
Event #2, the $1,150
NL Holdem Shotclock Shootout one, was won by Daniel Rudd. Although only 198 players bellied up to the tables of this tournament, among them were names like Ole Schemion, Terrence Chan and Sam Cohen. The final table saw Rory Young start with the largest stack, but eventually, it was Rudd who had his hand raised, having defeated Japan’s Hiroaki Harada heads-up, in the wake of a 3-way deal.

Event #3, the $2.5k 8-Game mixed one, saw Oliver Gill rise to the top. Only 46 players showed up for this one, which meant that only the top 5 would end up paid. The first day of action ended with the money-bubble bursting as Van Marcus bit the dust in 6th place. Sam Khouiss on the other hand made the final table, ending up in 3rd place eventually.
The player Gill had to dispose of heads-up was Tony Bloom, who took home $26.3k for his efforts. The winner’s share of the loot was $38.8k.
