SCOOP 2012 – Day 14 Report

The 14th day of the 2012 SCOOP offered yet another stage for ‘name’ players to flaunt their skills and to assert their domination. Several of these guys made final tables, and a handful of them walked away with victories yet again. The one who hands-down stole the show on day 14 was Shaun Deeb, who pushed through for yet another SCOOP 2012 title, securing his 4th tournament win at this year’s series. Other pros who won were Mike Sowers and Luke Schwartz.

Schwartz’s win came in the $5k PLO 6-max event, which offered a $250k guarantee. 134 players showed up for the event buy-in in hand, so the eventual prize-pool hit the $670k mark, obliterating the initial guarantee and creating tons of extra value for the top finishers. There were no deals at the top, so Schwartz took home the full $174.2k share of the winner, after he bested MrDurden heads-up. The Runner-up was rewarded with $117.2k.

Shaun Deeb’s 4th SCOOP 2012 title came in the $2k HORSE event, which offered a guarantee of $100k. 85 people coughed up the buy-in for this one, creating a prize-pool of $170k. Only 12 players took home prizes in this one, but that didn’t bother Deeb one bit: he wasn’t looking for anything less than a straight-out win. He got there when he bested Jon Spinks heads-up, and he took home the top prize of $46.3k. The runner-up pocketed $31.4k.
As the starting field of the event was made up almost exclusively of professional players, it came as no surprise that a whole bunch of them made the final table. George Lind, Jon Aguiar, Andrey Zaichenko, Alexandre Luneau and Dylan Linde all made the final stretch.

Mike Sowers’ win came in the $500 PLO 6-Max event, which more than doubled its initial guarantee too, after 681 players registered. Sowers bested BackDoorovich heads-up, claiming the $61.2k top prize. The reward of the runner-up was $45.9k. No deals were made in this event either.
