Season 9 EPT Prague Side Events

The Season 9 EPT Prague stop’s Main Event is in the books. Last week, we brought you updates from the thick of the action of the Main Event and we’ve pretty much ignored all the other goings-on, but an EPT stop is about much more than the Main Event. There are a whole bunch of live satellites and actual events, some of which might even overshadow the Main Event provided they received more coverage.
One such event at the Season 9 EPT Prague was the Eureka High Roller. High rollers tend to turn into spectacular showdowns pretty much all the time, because the size of the buy-in only allows skilled players to belly up to the tables. In the above said tournament, the winner was Guillaume Rivet, who has finally managed to add a title to his portfolio, much to the delight of his circle of high-profile poker friends.
The Canadian took down a prize of €89.2k, having bested Germany’s Robert Haigh heads-up. The runner-up’s share of the action was €59.2k. There were no deals made at the top.

Interestingly enough, there were only a couple of “name” players in the top 10. France’s Michel Abecassis made it to 6th place, taking down a €15.3k reward for his efforts. The UK’s Toby Lewis finished 9th for €7.3k.
Event #1, the €1.1k NL Holdem tournament, saw 131 players cough up the buy-in. The resulting prize-pool was a €127.7k one. Unlike in the high roller, there was a two-way deal at the top. The eventual winner, Russia’s Kirill Telezhkin, took down the €35.3k top prize. The runner-up, Kyle Frey from the US was forced to settle for a €28.9k prize.
A couple of “name” players made the top 10 in this one too: Rocco Palumbo finished 3rd while Roberto Romanello ended up in 9th.
