Some high stakes online action

During the WSOP, and especially during the Main Event, the high stakes online poker scene always slows down. As players slowly drop out though and the number of those directly interested closes in on the November Nine, the online high stakes action begins to stir as well.
On the other hand, those still in Las Vegas may show a preference to take their money to Bobby’s Room and duke it out live for a change. No wonder that this past week has yielded some of the flimsiest high stakes online action of the past few months. Even online maniacs like Dwan and Hansen were busy elsewhere as they only managed to log a 44-hand session against one another at Full Tilt. In fact, Ted Forrest, known online as “profbackwards”, Van Marcus and “DONKEY1965” carried the bulk of the action over at the limit tables.
The H.E.R.O.S. tables were the ones that yielded the most spectacular pots, allowing Ted Forrest to rack up $111,000 early in the morning on the 4th of July. Other participants in that game were Sammi “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro, Van Marcus, Joe Cassidy and Erick Lindgren. The game ran pretty much all night and the above named players were joined by Chau Giang, Nick Schulman and Richard Ashby. One of the biggest pots of the night involved Ashby and Giang, It was a Limit Holdem hand, which saw the SB square off with the BB. Ashby kicked off the action with a raise from the BB and Giang from the SB called him. The flop came 5c,4c,2h and Giang fired out a bet. Ashby raised him and eventually the betting was capped.
Chau Giang bet again on the 7h which came on the turn, Ashby raised and the two ended up capping the betting again. The 10c on the river prompted Giang to bet out once again. Ashby raised yet again and this time Giang saw it fit to stop the money flowing into the pot by just calling.
Ashby turned over 3c, 6c for a flopped straight and a rivered flush and Giang folded as the $18,000 pot was shipped over to Ashby.
Nearly the same lineup convened the following day on the $500/$1,000 limit, and this time it was player “NEKOTYAN’s” turn to score some pie. He won $125,000. The following evening, the limits were $1,000/$2,000 and bigger pots started flying. That allowed DONKEY1965 to amass $283,000 in winnings, money that came largely from Eli Elezra, Ted Forrest and Ashton Griffin.
Full Tilt Poker’s PL Omaha tables had the better of Van Marcus, as a 400-hand session which the Aussie pro logged, had him over $100,000 in the red. Almost half of that money ended up in Ted Forrest’s pockets, but later Ashby, NEKOTYAN and Josh Arieh dropped in too, smelling some profit.
Marcus then dropped some $122,000 to Phil Galfond in PLO.
Everything accounted for, the week’s biggest loser was Ashton Griffin (who’s blown about $218,000), followed by Van Marcus with $168,000 and Eli Elezra with $90,000.
Above the line, it was DONKEY1965 who dominated the action, picking up more than $265,000. NEKOTYAN followed him with $123,000.
