Sulsky vs Tollerene – the Battle Intensifies

For years, the online poker status quo was a stable one: Full Tilt Poker was the home of high stakes cash game action, and PokerStars was where players went to duke it out in massive, guaranteed prize-pool poker tournaments. When Full Tilt Poker essentially went under in the wake of Black Friday, PokerStars began shouldering the cash game load too. Now that Full Tilt is scheduled for re-launch, and with many high profile cash game players flocking back under its banner, it appears that the old status quo shall indeed be reestablished. Regardless of how Full Tilt fares though in its new/old role, it is quite certain that the biggest online cash game winner of the year will yet again have amassed his profits at PokerStars. Last year, the biggest winner was Finland’s Ilari Sahamies, who finished the year with a $2.18 million profit, accrued at PokerStars’ tables.

This year, the battle for the same title is waged between Ben Tollerene and Ben Sulsky. The two Bens are not alone at the top though. There are three more players well positioned for a year-ending rush to the top: Jens Kyllonen, Phil Galfond and “EireAbu”.
Sulsky is the current leader, with $2,740,000 to his name in profits. He has had a rather linear year thus far, steadily accumulating wins and only registering losses in July and October.
Tollerene on the other hand got off to a slower start and has been dealing with much higher variance since. He is currently $2,560,000 above the red line, but he has registered no fewer than 4 losing months. His profits during the other months were much higher than those of his rivals though. Kyllonen is sitting on $2,347,275 while Galfond isn’t far behind with $2,331,192.
