The 12th Season of the WPT is around the Corner

The WPT’s 12th season is indeed just around the corner. Scheduled to kick off on August 12, at the Merit Crystal Cove and Casino, the first stop of the new season features 35 events and plenty of guaranteed money to go around: players will share a minimum of $3 million in prizes, which is a minimum because it’s the actual guarantee and the eventual prize-pools are bound to get bigger than that.
The Main Event will obviously be the highlight of the stop: the $4.4k affair kicks off on August 16, and it features a guarantee of $1 million. Needless to say, this guarantee is expected to be easily surpassed as well. The Main Event will feature two Day 1 flights to accommodate all comers. Players will be offered a re-entry option as well.

Last year’s winner of the Main Event was poker pro Marvin Rettenmaier, playing in PartyPoker’s colors. Rettenmaier’s achievement turned out to be a truly memorable one: he became the first ever player to take down the top prize in back-to-back WPT events.
Before his Merit Crystal Cove win, Rettenmaier had taken home the goods from the WPT’s World Championship at the Bellagio, an event which was part of Season X.

The Merit Crystal Cove is indeed the best possible location for the high-profile stop. The casino resort offers players full holiday packages, which include the poker action too of course. According to Michael Peltekci, president of the Merit Casino, the venue will throw a beach party for the WPT crowd, something which is slowly but surely growing into a tradition. This year’s party will feature a fire show, various renowned DJs and the Girls Rock dance group from Britain.
PartyPoker’s Big Game will kick off along with the WPT action, and several high-profile players have already confirmed participation.
PartyPoker.com is slowly but surely closing in on reclaiming its once dominant spot in the world of online poker. Sign up now and tag along for the ride.
