On June 4, Americas Cardroom officials made the announcement that their popular High Five Tournament Series would return as big as ever and much more generous prize pool-wise. The Series, which will feature 5 tournaments every day for 5 straight days, will offer a $420k guarantee this time around, but given its popularity and given how past editions of the High Five always beat their guarantees, the amount of money actually up for grabs will probably be far more than that.
The 2013 November edition of the Series featured a $350k guarantee, but in the end, the total amount of the prizes given out exceeded the $430k mark. If that trend keeps up, this time around players will likely play for more than $500k in prizes.

The High Five kicks off on June 11, so there’s still plenty of time to register, to make a deposit and to hit the tables when the time comes. The popularity of the Series is due to its low buy-ins and massive prize-pools, always a killer combination when it comes to bringing players to the tables. According to spokesman Michael Harris, the High Five was the site’s most popular and lucrative low and mid-stakes tournament Series, and it therefore made perfect sense to bring it back. The guarantees were routinely smashed, so there was never any sort of shortage in player interest.
By re-launching the High Five now, Americas Cardroom officials are obviously looking to take advantage of a favorable time-frame as well: the OSS III (Online Super Series III), was Americas Cardroom’s
WSOP-like
online poker series, which offered some $900k in prizes in March. The OSS III was successful, but there were obviously lots of players at the site who simply could not afford to play in it because of the steep buy-ins.
The High Five addresses that very problem, so all those who loved the idea of the OSS III can now actually get down to real money business at the tables.
The Main Event of the High Five takes place on June 15, at 5 PM ET, and it features a $215 buy-in, coupled with a $150k guarantee. Satellites for the Main Event are already running at the site.
Besides the Main Event, there will be plenty of side-event action, covering PLO, Holdem, rebuys, add-ons and just about everything in-between.
