The Online Poker Week – Heinecker Biggest Winner

A lot happened last week at the nosebleed stakes
online poker tables even though the action itself wasn’t anywhere near the flow it’d spoiled us with through weeks past. The biggest winner of the week took home “only” $411.7k – not a particularly major accomplishment value-wise, in comparison to what usually goes down at these tables, but the identity of the biggest winner – Niklas Heinecker – was certainly headline-worthy, because this haul helped him take over Viktor Blom for the biggest online poker cash game winner of the year title. Heinecker took advantage of a hiatus Blom took from online action to sneak up on and eventually past him in the rankings.
The person who really stole the lime-light again however, was the biggest loser of the year, who has pretty much locked up that dubious title already: Gus Hansen. The Great Dane has been a losing machine for quite a while now and he stayed true to that trend this week too, dropping a mind-boggling $1.22 million. What’s even more awe-inspiring about this loss is the fact that it came on the tail of another $1.3 million loss the week before which in turn followed yet another $615.3k loss the week before that.
Everything accounted for, Hansen is around $7.58 million under the red line for the year, definitely a hard-to-beat mark for anyone.

Most of the money that Heinecker ended up taking home came from the 2-7 Triple Draw tables, where he took on the best in the business – including Blom and Patrik Antonius – and walked away with the goods. He took about $528k from Hansen and $171k from Blom. Kostritsyn walked away a winner from that session too.
