The Online Poker Weekend: Espen Sorlie’s Golden Run

Last weekend turned out to be one for the online poker history books. With the FTOPS’ last edition set to go out with a bang through its $640 Main Event, and with PokerStars’ Sunday Million taking a back seat this time, the scene was indeed set for a truly memorable couple of days of poker action.
Featuring a guarantee of $1 million, Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS Main Event drew most of the weekend limelight. The player who won this
poker tournament was “ponyo88” who ended up with a $153.9k prize.
While he was indeed the biggest winner of the event (and the third biggest winner of the weekend), ponyo88 failed to grab much attention, because Espen Sorlie hogged pretty much all of it. Sorlie finished second in the FTOPS Main Event, following a 3-way deal at the top. His second place was worth $143.5k.
Sorlie was involved in another deal over the weekend too: in the Sunday Million, over at PokerStars, he made yet another deal, ending up in second place for a $168.2k haul.

Featuring a $635 buy-in, the FTOPS Main Event drew a starting field of 1,500 players, failing to cover its guarantee. As said above, the winner was “ponyo88”, and Sorlie was the runner-up. Third place and the $130.4k prize that came with it after the above said deal, went to LuisFigo1014. No one else finished in 6 figures.
Victory in the Sunday Million went to €urop€an, who took home $185.4k. As said above, Sorlie finished second in this one too, followed by _Prinsesse_7, who picked up $106.9k for his (her?) efforts. The tournament saw 6,685 players belly up to its tables, creating a prize-pool of $1.33 million.
