Despite all the live action going down over the weekend at the Aussie Millions, the weekend majors were big yet again. The Sunday Million for instance,
PokerStars’ flagship weekend major, saw 8,072 players belly up to the tables. The resulting prize-pool was $1.61 million. It has been a while since a “name” pro managed to go all the way in the Sunday Million, but this week, it was indeed the turn of a pro to take the top prize and the honors. Guilherme Cheveau won the
poker tournament, following a 5-way deal at the top. When everything was said and done, he had $161.8k locked up, which was in fact the biggest prize of the tournament, despite the value he had obviously given up through the deal.
A player known as “olligergely” ended up in second place, taking home a $141.6k prize.
Third place and the corresponding prize-money ended up in possession lpl4yNuts, whose share of the prize-pool was $129.2k. 4th place man Niklas Astedt took home a little bit more: he pocketed $129.6k. 5th place finisher baeks22 was the last one to have a 6-figure payday. His share of the loot was $124.2k.
Kevin Vandersmissen managed a good deep run in the event too: he finished 11th for an $8.6k reward.
The Sunday Warm-up saw 3,706 players belly up to the tables, creating a prize-pool of $741.2k. The winner in this one was Paul Nunes, who made no deals on his way to the top. He took home the only 6-figure haul awarded by the event: the $116.3k top prize.
The one Nunes bested for the top spot was a player known as PhilRoyal888, whose reward was $86.7k.
Georgios Kapalas was another deep-running pro in this event. He finished 5th, taking home $31.5k for his efforts.
