The Online Poker Weekend – Major Deal in the Sunday Million

PokerStars’ Sunday Million is without a doubt the highlight of the
online poker industry’s weekend major selection. Seldom do players from other tournaments make the top of the weekend profits list, but this week, they were certainly granted that chance, because the Sunday Million saw no fewer than 5 players agree to a deal at the top, thusly dividing the lion’s share of the prize-pool in a different way than the tournament’s payout structure had it mapped out. Another interesting thing about the event was the fact that Humberto Brenes’ nephew, Eric Brenes, made it all the way to the heads-up stage, where he eventually fell short.
The winner of the Sunday Million was a player known as “mastervp888”, who took home $119.6k for his efforts. His share of the prize-pool was not even the second biggest prize awarded by the event though. Eric Brenes, the runner-up, took down $121.4k, while the biggest prize ended up in possession of the 4th place man, “U_2GOOD4_M3”, tipping the scale at $142.4k.
Sign up to PokerStars and play in their weekend majors. The Sunday Million costs $215 to enter, and it can indeed result in a life-changing 6-figure haul.
The only player from the top 5 who fell short of a 6-figure score was 5th place finisher Spowi07, who took home $95.2k. The event saw no fewer than 6,633 players belly up to its tables, creating a prize-pool of $1.32 million, well above and beyond the $1 million guarantee.
The Sunday Warm-up saw its $500k guarantee left in the dust too: the 3,039 players who bought into it created a prize-pool of $607.8k. Like in the Sunday Million, there was a deal at the top in this major as well: this time, a 4-way one. The winner. “Firka”, took home $64.2k. The biggest prize in this one went to “xTheWall”, who took down $75.8k.
PokerStars is still THE best tournament destination of the online poker industry and their live event qualifiers are quite peerless.
