He may not have been the biggest tournament winner of the weekend, but Poorya Nazari of Canada, who doesn’t even consider himself a full-time poker pro, hogged all the
online poker limelight over the weekend by winning his second PokerStars Sunday 2nd Chance tournament this year.
The poker world knows Nazari mostly on account of his 2009
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event win which landed him a $3 million prize. Although he seldom plays these days, whenever he gets around to logging a few hours in front of the computer, he accomplishes something noteworthy. This week, he won the Sunday Second Chance, taking down a $47.2k prize. He had won this same event back in March once too, picking up $53.2k that time around.
The biggest tournament winner of the weekend was again the winner of PokerStars’ Sunday Million, a player known as “Agrobot_388Z”, who took home $224.5k, having struck no deals on his way to the top.
A total of 7,485 players bought into the Sunday Million this week, creating a prize-pool of $1.49 million.
Besides the winner, the poker tournament created two more 6-figure finishers: second place man Ysjah was rewarded with $165.2k, while third-place finisher OneTime1Time walked away with a $119.7k share of the prize-pool.
The Sunday Warm-up covered its guarantee in a similarly handy manner: the 3,535 players who took part in this one, created a prize-pool of $707k, well above and beyond the $500k guarantee.
Unlike in the Sunday Million, there was a 2-way deal at the top in this one. The eventual winner, bar-bar9999, took down $106.1k, being the only 6-figure winner of the tournament. Runner-up 1donertasche earned $87.6k for his efforts. The deepest-finishing notable in this event was Pierre Neuville, who took home $8.83k for his 8th place.
