The various high profile live poker events taking place all over the world (the WPT’s Barcelona event is in full swing, not to mention the
WSOP APAC in Melbourne, which has tied down most of the bracelet-hungry high-profile crowd) have soaked up most of the action over the weekend, but in spite of that, the online majors drew more than decent starting fields yet again.
The identity of the biggest winner of the weekend wasn’t much of a surprise. Week after week, the
online poker community has gotten used to the fact that whoever would win the Sunday Million would be the biggest tournament winner of the weekend.
This week, a total of 8,173 players bellied up to the tables of the biggest weekend major, creating a $1.63 million prize-pool and making the original $1 million guarantee look like chump change yet again.
There weren’t any deals made at the top. The winner, VanDobeln was therefore not forced to give up any money to the negotiating skills of any of his opponents. He took home the full $245.1k haul.
Zolisza finished second, picking up a handsome $179.8k reward. Holly17 finished 3rd, taking down $122.5. None of the other players managed to break into 6-figure territory prize-wise.
The deepest finishing notable was Scott Clements, who took home $3.5k for his 25th place.
The Sunday Warm-Up saw 3,494 players belly up to its tables, generating a prize-pool of $698.8k. No deals were made in this event either. The winner, cmontopdeck, took home $109.7k, being the only player to take down a 6-figure prize. Dejan Divkovic finished second, followed by Jordan Westmoreland in 3rd.
The Sunday 500 saw a “name” player take down its top prize. Mayu Roca made no deals on his way to the top, claiming the $78.4k share of the winner.
