The Online Poker Weekend – Steve Tripp among Winners

This weekend saw PokerStars’ SCOOP hit its halfway mark, with 21 of the scheduled 44 events in the books. The Sunday Million and the Sunday Warm-Up were yet again missing from the weekend schedule on account of two 2-day SCOOP events which took their places. Despite that, there were still plenty of majors left to generate big winners.
At
PokerStars, David Yan was one of the biggest tournament winners of the weekend. He won the Sunday 500, taking down the top prize of $75k.
The event saw 1,026 players cough up the $530 buy-in to take part in it, generating a prize-pool of $513k, easily beating the $300k guarantee. David Yan would’ve probably taken home much more money, had he not agreed to a 4-way deal at the top. This way, none of the top finishers managed to cross into 6-figure territory prize-wise.
David Yan bested a player known as “StaceOP” heads-up. The runner-up’s share of the prize-pool was $53.1k. John May was the deepest-finishing notable in the event: he finished 7th for $15.1k.
Steve Tripp’s victory came in the Bigger 109 at PokerStars. The
poker tournament drew a starting field of 3,685 players, creating a prize-pool of $368.5k. There weren’t any deals made in this tournament: the top finisher, Tripp, took home the entire slated $57.8k reward of the winner.
“$icduc” finished second for $43.1k. The highest finishing notable in this one – besides Tripp of course – was Naoya Kihara, whose 32nd place earned an $829 prize.
Full Tilt Poker’s $350k Guaranteed drew 1,900 entrants, who contributed buy-ins to create a $380k prize-pool, handily covering the guarantee. The winner of this event was “wptchamp9”, who pocketed the $72.2k top prize. Scott Freeman made it pretty deep in this one. He finished 6th for $14.4k.
