The Online Poker Weekend – van Hoof Wins Sunday Warm-Up

The weekend was yet again a busy one for online poker players as both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars had some attractive special events planned. At Full Tilt Poker, the Full Tilt Online Poker Series wrapped up with the Main Event, which featured a $670 buy-in, offering a $1 million guarantee. At PokerStars, the KnockOut week wrapped up, with a $215 Main Event.
With so many big events going on, the biggest winner of the weekend did not come from PokerStars’ Sunday Million. The FTOPS Main Event was the one that yielded a $212k winner. Nathaniel Falber won the big one, defeating “paula35” heads-up. The prize-pool share of the runner-up was $141k. The third-place finisher, “B1oshock”, walked away with $100.7k. None of the other participants managed to break into 6-figures. Other notables who managed deep finishes were Oliver Price (17th place for $5.8k) and Alex Debus (19th for $4.2k).

While it missed the “biggest winner of the weekend” train this time around, PokerStars Sunday Million did not disappoint prize-pool-wise. Some 6.4k players bellied up to its virtual tables, creating a prize-pool of $1.28 million. The winner was zidoca233, whose reward was $126.8k, on account of a 5-way deal the top finishers had struck. “bostanu24” finished second for $117.6k. He was followed by LLlypa666, whose share of the prize-pool was $125.8k. Only one other player finished in 6-figures: TIETYMM, who ended up taking home $102.5k for his efforts. Stuart Taylor made a relatively deep run in the event too: he finished 27th, for a $2.99k reward.
The event which drew the most attention was PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-Up, which saw November Niner Jorryt van Hoof walk away with the top prize of $91.8k. John Leathart finished third in this one, followed by Dan Murariu in 4th.
Full Tilt Poker has always been THE destination for cash game action. These days though, its tournaments make quite a few headlines as well. Open an account there and join the action!
