The Poker Grapevine – AP/UB Money Issues

Much of the post-Black Friday wrangling has been focused on Full Tilt Poker, probably on account of the fact that the number of players who had their funds stuck there was far bigger than in any of the other affected poker rooms. The poker world seems to have forgotten about the CEREUS rooms, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker, which too have failed to hand player monies back. The last significant news about the AP/UB side of the issue came on May 10, when the two sites announced that they had reached an agreement with the DoJ which would eventually facilitate the return of the said funds.
Unfortunately, nothing transpired in the matter since, despite the fact that 5 months have gone by.
Those who enquired about the player funds were told by AP/UB that the CEREUS sites were still fully committed to returning player monies, but because they were still in discussions with the DoJ regarding the matter, no further comments were possible.

In other news: jostling for position in hopes of an eventually legalized US online poker market continues. Fertitta Interactive, the company owned by the owners of UFC and Station Casinos in Las Vegas, has purchased CyberArts Licensing LLC, a company specialized in online poker. The move is an obvious attempt to create a market presence in the US before the legalization so eagerly awaited by the online poker world. Whether the move is an optimistic gamble on the part of Fertitta Interactive or an informed decision rather, remains to be seen.
Lorenzo Fertitta, owner of Fertitta Interactive has declared his full support for the legalization and regulation of online poker in the US.
He also said that his company picked CyberArts Licensing LLC on account of the latter’s clean regulatory record.
Before the game is actually legalized, Fertitta Interactive will offer play money games to US based customers, thus attempting to build up a player base before any regulatory steps are taken.
