The Poker Grapevine – Bodog Attacks Asian Market

A little more than a week ago we told you about how Bodog made up their mind to leave the European online poker market and to begin focusing their efforts on Asia. The site has already teamed up with several Asian-facing operators, and they have launched their Asian-facing site, but a couple of days ago they made a great move that may well go down in their history as one of the greatest they ever pulled: Bodog signed a partnership with TLC88.com, an Asian-focused community-based social gaming site. TLC88.com is a rather odd bird to westerners: it takes full advantage of the fact that live gambling is generally viewed as a fun, social activity, with a leisure touch in Asia. While online poker isn’t exactly through the roof in Asia popularity-wise, the game has great potential to integrate TLC88’s sense of fun and community sharing. In this respect, Bodog seems to be the ideal candidate: the site has always been one kind to beginners, and in Asia, most of the newly signed-up players will indeed be beginners in the truest sense of the word.
Through the move, Bodog are obviously looking to take advantage of the great brand following that TLC88.com has managed to build up in Asia.

In other news: Nevada is clearly enjoying an online poker boom these days as everyone looks to get in on the action, from experienced companies with well-established online poker portfolios, to newcomers who have never really dealt with online poker before.
3G Studios, a video game company focused on PlayStation Portable and iPhone games has applied for an online gaming license.
3G Studios is not completely new to the poker scene: in 2006, they created a game for the PSP: Stacked with Daniel Negreanu.
