The Poker Grapevine – Caesars Cup Teams Set

The
World Series of Poker Europe has a nice surprise in store for poker lovers everywhere: the Caesars Cup. The two team rosters have apparently been set, all that we need to see now is whether or not the Americans can exact some sweet revenge on the Europeans for the bitter loss they suffered at the hands of the European team lead by Annette Obrestad in 2009. Back then, the captain of team Americas was Daniel Negreanu.
This time around, the Europeans will be led into battle by Bertrand Grospellier. The other members of team Europe shall be Jake Cody, Gus Hansen, Dario Minieri and Maxim Lykov.
The US team will be captained by Phil Hellmuth, who will be able to count on the services of Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Huck Seed.
Jokingly, Hellmuth declared that his team was ready to show the northern Europeans that decades of green felt experience weighed heavier in the balance than clicking a mouse while dressed in one’s pajamas. The event takes place is Cannes, France.
In other news: Chiligaming, a French online gaming operator (responsible for Chilipoker among other things), is set to enter the US market with a social networking based free-to-play poker network.
The games will apparently be played for virtual currency.
Chiligaming will also open offices in San Francisco to support its US operations. The move is obviously one meant to land the company in a favorable position once real money poker is legalized in the US, a development which is obviously considered quite imminent by many of these companies.
Chiligaming is one of the few online poker operators which have never ventured into the US market before.
In still other news: Dutch Boyd, the poker pro responsible for a failed online poker operation which went under in 2001, failing to return $400k in player funds, has apparently launched a poker training site, where he poses as the professor, giving players one on one lessons.
