The Poker Grapevine – Chad Elie Speaks

A couple of weeks ago we ran a piece on Chad Elie, the payment processor who ended up going to prison for 5 months for his involvement in the handling and facilitating of funds transfers for online poker sites which had operated illegally in the US. Elie fired out a few tweets back then, pointing an accusing finger at some poker insiders, and promised an interview with a popular poker portal in which he would reveal more.
The time for that interview has apparently come: before going to jail, Elie apparently wanted to get his side of the Black Friday story out there. One of the issues he discussed in his interview was his meeting with Full Tilt Poker’s Howard Lederer, which took place on December 31, 2010, when the two allegedly discussed payment processing and various other online poker related issues for several hours. Needless to say, in his Lederer Files, Lederer failed to mention any such meeting.

Elie said that during the meeting, Lederer took his time gloating about how he had managed to create a $2 billion company, and that he hardly let anyone slip a word into the conversation.
Elie also discussed other payment processors, like Daniel Tzvetkoff and Jeremy Johnson and he also said he had received a threat after he published some documents via twitter on November 2.

In other news: Tony G has managed to pull off a marketing feat few online poker executives could ever even attempt: he put together a charity poker match with several Manchester United players, and had it filmed for MUTV. The event was basically about MU players battling it out amongst themselves, with the winner taking down a large cash prize for his favorite charity. Tony G didn’t actually play.
