The Poker Grapevine – Cole South Joins Ivey’s Site

Phil Ivey has apparently been quite busy lately, pushing his IveyPoker.com and recruiting instructors for the site. Ivey’s latest acquisition is Cole South, the online poker pro who used to be one of the major head-liners at Full Tilt Poker, back in the days when Isildur1, Antonius and Dwan played for million dollar pots there. South has quietly slipped off the radar since, but it now looks like he’s readied himself to jump right back into the lime-light again. Ivey intends to offer free poker coaching through his site, and his roster of instructors already includes Jennifer Harman, Patrick Antonius and Greg Merson.
Although he hasn’t really made any headlines lately, South has remained one of the most feared players in professional poker. His hyper-aggressive style and his creativity at the green felt are still second to none.
South first hit the online poker tables in 2005 and in little over two years, he managed to build a bankroll of more than $2 million.

Back in the heyday of nosebleed stakes cash games at Full Tilt Poker, he saw some pretty awe-inspiring swings though: at one point, he won $1.1 million in a single day, but he also dropped quite a bit of money to Ilari Sahamies and Tom Dwan.
Besides actually playing, South got involved with a variety of online poker ventures. He was a member of the Cardrunners and he co-authored a poker book called “Let There Be Range” which – at 1,850 a pop – went down in history as one of the most expensive poker books ever written. Player registrations are apparently already being accepted at IveyPoker. The site will also feature an innovative social poker game that will be the main teaching tool for the above listed instructors.
