The Poker Grapevine – Companies Preparing For Online Poker in California

California has long been rumored to be one of the states seriously considering legal intrastate
online poker and gambling. While little has materialized legislation-wise thus far, California-based companies are already partnering up, jostling for position for when eventually the ban will be lifted off the above said online activities.
Cantor Gaming, a company specialized in running sports books in various Las Vegas resorts, has apparently teamed up with Horse Racing United to take advantage of the soon-to-emerge legal online poker market in California. What exactly does horse racing have to do with online poker? – one may wonder…Well, it appears that under the exclusive agreement struck by the two companies, Cantor Gaming would set about developing an online poker platform, which Horse Racing United would then use to operate an online poker site within California.
All the technical support and infrastructure issues would be handled by Cantor Gaming too.
Both companies are obviously ardent supporters of Sen. Bill 1463, a bill which aims to generate revenue for the state from legalized and regulated online poker and gambling. According to Cantor Gaming CEO Lee Amaitis, California’s size would make the state prime territory for an online poker operation.
