To many in the online poker community, David Benefield, known by his online moniker “Raptor”, is one of Tom Dwan’s best friends. Benefield is also known for his high stakes online antics, which are quite impressive indeed, even if they fail to overshadow Dwan’s accomplishments in the eyes of many.
Benefield is also a prolific
poker forum poster, and he has a knack for answering questions from other online poker players and forum members in a straightforward and frank manner.
Information which others might consider highly confidential is freely available from Benefield. For instance, when someone asked him how much he made online at the peak of his career, he answered that he made around $10k an hour at the 2/4 and 3/6 PLO and NLH heads-up tables, where he seemed to do extremely well against certain people.
He also said that he made around $5 million playing poker and that he invested that money into various businesses, none of which have yet taken off.
As far as his relationship with durrrr was concerned, he said it would often happen that he would have more money than Dwan, but the latter would play at much higher stakes and he would often go on heaters which would propel him into the millions within an extremely short period of time. While on such occasions he felt happy for Dwan, Benefield admitted it often made him feel like a “bitch”.
He also said he considered Dwan to be a fish, an extremely creative and smart one at that, but still a fish nonetheless.
In other news: Jamie Gold may not be known for his after-2006 WSOP Main Event accomplishments, but he certainly rubs elbows with plenty of celebrities, and while at it he apparently plays poker with many of them too. He’s played with Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Kirstie Alley, Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Love Hewitt. He’s now reportedly busy trying to make a “great player” out of Jim Carrey.
