The Poker Grapevine – Delaware to Implement Online Poker

The State of Delaware has long been sniping live casino customers away from New Jersey, and recently it has surpassed the Garden State as the second biggest gambling destination in the country, after Nevada. The competition between the two states in regards to gambling and poker has apparently washed over into the realm of Internet poker and gambling lately. Even as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is considering the signing of an online poker bill into law this week, Delaware officials have made it clear that they want a real money online poker system in place by September 30, 2013. The Delaware state lottery has issued a request the other day aiming to draw in potential partners for the implementation of an Internet gaming system and services solution. Besides the above said system which involves everything needed for the proper operation of a real money online poker platform, the state is also looking for game content in order to be able to provide a wide selection of online gambling casino games to its customers in the future.

The move may indeed turn out to be a historic one for the state lottery, given the fact that Delaware intends to begin offering online lottery as well as sports wagering in the future. The Internet-based system that will handle the online poker and online gambling side of the business will have to be integrated with the lottery and the sports betting segments in the future. Delaware is only the second US State to have legalized online poker within its limits, following Nevada. New Jersey may soon become the third state on the list, that is, if Gov. Chris Christie does decide not to veto the bill delivered onto his desk in a rather unanimous effort by state legislators.
