The Poker Grapevine – Elie Takes Swipe at Lederer

Online poker payment processor Chad Elie, he who has been recently sentenced to 5 months in prison after looking at a near life-sentence, decided to lash out at one of his former partners, Full Tilt Poker’s Howard Lederer, who at one point declared that he had never met with a payment processor. Elie fired out a tweet, in which he essentially delivered specifics about a meeting he had had with Lederer in New York. Elie also tweeted the picture of a memorandum from Tom Goldstein, according to which, online poker transfers done in a certain, legally transparent way are in fact legal.
Elie seems to have found a fertile ground at twitter, making his case while attacking Lederer at the same time. He also tweeted a picture of Lederer meeting with Bitar and Harry Reid.
Elie has struck up conversation with several twitter followers, and he even agreed to an exclusive interview, in which he will no doubt seek to de-construct some of Howard Lederer’s “Lederer Files” claims. One of the major online poker forums saw a new thread created by a person who is reportedly Elie, but whose identity could not be verified yet.

In other news: the list of those strongly opposed to the Kyl-Reid online poker bill proposition has just gotten bigger, with the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda voicing its opposition. Antigua and Barbuda had filed a complaint with the WTO back in 2004 and it won, however it still hasn’t been compensated by the US. If the proposed Reid/Kyl bill passes, Antigua and Barbuda won’t be able to secure any US licenses.
The bill actually mentions the WTO ruling, calling it wrong. Back in 2007, an arbitrator ruled that Antigua wasn’t entitled to more than $21 million annually in compensations, opposed to the $3.4 billion the tiny nation was seeking.
