The poker grapevine – ESPN to make poker television history

ESPN is set to make poker television history by broadcasting the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure’s final table. ESPN2 and ESPN3 will cover the action, broadcasting it uncut for the first time ever, with a 60-minute delay (which for people not directly involved in the action is pretty much the equivalent of live coverage). The 1 hour delay - introduced for obvious reasons - will also mean that those who bust out will be able to run to a TV set nearby and watch their own demise again.
The broadcast will mark a major milestone in poker television: people will be able to watch a poker broadcast uncut from the start to the finish for the first time in the history of poker television. They’ll be able to see the stars in action, with nothing cut away, and with huge amounts of money on the line.

If you thought the first 3 seasons of the LAPT (Latin American Poker Tour) were somewhat tamer than similar poker tours and that organizers may bail on the series, think again: PokerStars.net, the main sponsor of the tour has just announced its 4th season and things are shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before. Latin American poker players will be pleased to learn that the LAPT will kick off on February 16 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and that it will feature new venues too. In addition to the already existing stops, two new National Poker Championship events will be introduced (in Chile and Colombia) and a player of the year will be appointed as well. In addition to the already massive prize-pools, organizers will introduce the new LAPT awards, which work on a system similar to the EPT awards.
