The Poker Grapevine – FTOPS XXI Schedule Released

Even before their much-hyped re-launch, Full Tilt Poker had promised to bring back their popular FTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) as soon as possible. True to their word, they have recently announced the schedule of the 21st edition of the Series, making it obvious from the get-go that none of the tarnish has been knocked off the FTOPS by the Black Friday-induced break.
The Series will kick off on December 2 with a $216 event, which will offer a $750k guarantee. Overall, there will be 35
poker tournaments and millions will be given away in guaranteed prizes. The Series wraps up on December 16, just in time for players to get their holiday spirit on.
The FTOPS has always been extremely popular. Last year for instance, the Main Event alone offered no less than $9 million up for grabs. The $640 event ended with Blair Hinkle’s victory. Hinkle took home $1.1 million for his efforts. This happened back during the 19th edition of the Series. The last edition, the 20th, was something of a bust given that it took place shortly after Black Friday and featured much-reduced player fields and prize-pools. US players still will not be able to toss their buy-ins behind the Series now.
Regardless of the absence of US traffic, site officials are expecting massive starting fields. One of the highlights of the Series will be the $1,050 multi-entry NL Holdem event, which kicks off on December 3.
December 10 and December 16 will also see large buy-in NL Holdem events take place.
According to
online poker traffic trackers, Full Tilt Poker has shot back into second place traffic-wise, averaging 8,600 active cash game players within a few minutes of re-launch. It surpassed the iPoker network, which saw an average of 3,000 cash game players at its tables.
