The Poker Grapevine – Full Tilt’s Imminent Re-launch

Things are definitely heating up at Full Tilt Poker, the much-hyped re-launch of the operation only a few days away. The site has begun re-paying its non-US customers and the process is indeed well underway. Many of those who have monies at the site will probably opt to keep their accounts funded though, because once the action gets going, there will be a promotions shower at Full Tilt, with tons of extra value available for new players as well as for existing ones. The site has recently released a statement regarding its imminent re-launch. According to Eric Hollreiser, head of PokerStars’ corporate communications, play-money action is already in full swing at the site. The play-money period before the actual re-launch will be used by the operator to iron out possible technical glitches in preparation for real money play.

Players from a series of European countries (Denmark, Spain, Belgium and Estonia) are already able to use the play-money feature and to withdraw funds. France has recently been added to that list as well. In Italy, the operation is still bogged down in legal matters, but according to Hollreiser, PokerStars’ legal advisers continue to work with the Italian authorities in order to resolve these problems.

In other news: the €10k Mix Max event of this Year’s WSOPE was the scene of a pretty heated confrontation between Brandon Cantu and Jonathan Aguiar, the eventual winner of the poker tournament. Cantu was the one who claimed he had been robbed, and he challenged Aguiar to a re-match. Aguiar accepted and the bout will apparently take place on November 7, in the Aria Poker Room in Las Vegas. The pressure in the heads-up confrontation is certainly on Cantu, who has a lot of trash-talk to back up.
