With online poker headlines dominated by the various Holiday promotions currently running everywhere and by the exploits of high-stakes professional players, it is understandable that some out there have simply not heard about the 2015 World Cup of Poker, a play-money series which ran over 4 weeks at PokerStars, pitting players from 16 different nations against one-another in an epic clash of stake-less poker skill.
Play money action is quite popular at PokerStars and the World Cup of Poker further cemented the status of the stake-less games at the site. At the end of some rather wild green-felt antics, Germany were declared the winners, after they defeated Kazakhstan in the final. Germany went into the home stretch of the competition with a rather significant advantage, fielding 47 players to Kazakhstan's 35. The Kazakhs managed to even the playing-field though, but eventually Germany pulled ahead for good, sending 5 opponents packing one after the other.

The battle for third place was a much more one-sided affair though: the US showed up with 63 players against France's 7, so this one was a blow-out of epic proportions.
In other poker news: Christmas being the time of the year when one spends time with the family, it is also a great opportunity for many to log more
online poker hands than usual. Matthew Pitt at PartyPoker's blog has a few pointers for those who intend to take advantage of the holiday season to hit the green felt.
Over at Full Tilt Poker, blogger Matthew Perry has some tips on Christmas gifts for poker players, so that's worth a peak as well.
