WSOP Main Event run. Palihapitiya has apparently played poker with Phil Hellmuth too, and word has it that the ex-
UB pro didn’t exactly do well in that session. Palihapitiya’s poker playing ways have earned him a feature story in the New York Times too.
No longer working for Facebook, Palihapitiya has started his own venture capital firm.
In other news: the ANZPT’s Darwin Main Event has played down to a final table. The $2,200 tournament features a top prize of $36,480. The final table features an almost exclusively Australian line-up. The only player who is not an Aussie is Jonathan Dangio, who finished the penultimate day in second place behind chip leader Jack Drake. Drake had led the field at the end of the previous day too, and he managed to preserve his chip advantage.
Danny Chevalier made the final table as the short-stack. He battled through the day with Leo Boxell, for the ANZPT Player of the year title. Boxell was the one who succumbed first, and thus Chevalier clinched the POY title.
In still other news: the WSOP-E’s Cannes stop got going on Friday. The event looks to award prizes worth several millions of Euros, but making players rich is not the only objective of the WSOP-E in Cannes. On October 19, those who can afford it and are willing to do some charity, will get the chance to support the needy through a charity event. The proceeds will go to the Model Citizen Fund, an organization which makes it possible for people to donate backpacks containing 150 items to needy people world-over.
The event will cost €240 to enter, and it will allow unlimited €100 rebuys for its first 4 levels.
