The Poker Grapevine – ISPT Gathering Momentum

The ISPT may have come to existence as a mere rumor about a year or so ago, but it is fast materializing, turning into reality in front of the awestruck eyes of the global poker community. Having earned some much needed legitimacy through the addition of Michael Mizrachi, Liz Lieu and Sam Trickett, the ISPT has made a few recent moves obviously aimed at covering all its bases: they hired Patrik Antonius to take aim at the online poker community, Sam Trickett’s addition was obviously aimed at drumming up players in the UK, and they have now added David Benyamine too, a French poker pro well known in online poker circles, who will probably peddle the brand to French players. After all, France is one country which can and probably will send hundreds of players to the ISPT’s opening event set to take place at the Wembley Stadium next May.
Benyamine is above all a cash game player, known for his
high stakes online poker antics. He’s a rather prolific tournament player too though: he has several WSOP bracelets and he has won WPT events too.
Benyamine was wearing an ISPT patch at the Partouche Poker Tour’s Main Event last week, together with Patrik Antonius.
In other news: 2006
WSOP Main Event Champion Jamie Gold may not have turned in any impressive poker performances in the wake of his still-record Big Dance prize, but the Tropicana Las Vegas certainly thought it was worthwhile to open a poker room bearing his name. The interesting thing about the said poker room was that even though Gold’s WSOP triumph occurred 6 years ago, the poker room was only opened about 7 months ago. Well, the poker room has now been closed, as the Tropicana seems to have other projects in mind for that area. Jamie Gold was the official spokesman of the poker room, and he made regular appearances there.
