The poker world is about to lose a lively speck of color in Jennifer Tilly. While she may not have been one of the best poker pros out there, Tilly has always been a pleasant presence and her attitude towards the game has always been the right one. She made the announcement on Tuesday, in Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show, where she said that her poker playing days might be winding down. She said that the stress involved in the lifestyle was getting to her. She likened the life of a poker player to a session of never ending agony.
Tilly’s boyfriend is none other than poker pro Phil Laak, and that may prove to be yet another hurdle for her to overcome in ditching the game.
In other news: the Partouche Poker Tour’s final table is set to kick off on November 12. The WSOP’s November Nine has hogged all the live tournament limelight lately, but with it out of the way, the PPT can finally shine.
The 9-handed final table has been set way back in September. Come November 12, Sam Trickett will be the one starting out from pole position with a stack of 2.6 million chips. Alexandre Koussy is second in chips with a 2.47 million stack. Roger Hairabedian and Alexander Dovzhenko will play too, albeit Dovzhenko will start as the official short-stack.
The final table will take place in Cannes and the winner will walk away with a top prize worth €1 million.
In still other news: the issue of legal online poker will apparently be pulled from the shelf twice this month in Congress. On November 17, the Senate Indian Affairs Committee is set to hold a hearing on the future of Internet Gambling, while on November 18, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee will discuss the issue of
on line poker yet again. With all the favorable news coming from various live casino operators lately, and with all the jostling for market position, one has to wonder whether there’ll finally be a breakthrough in the case.
