The Poker Grapevine – Lock Poker and Bwin Make Major Moves

Lock Poker is gearing up to introduce some rather radical changes in the upcoming few weeks. The site has made an announcement regarding its plans to leave the Merge Network and to establish an online poker network of its own under the name: Revolution Gaming. The new operation will be launched on June 1st and the transition will be one as smooth as possible for Lock Poker’s players. A Lock Poker representative has also said that the site would acquire selected assets from the Merge Network.
The move will usher in an age of technological innovation, of improved promotions and of much more efficient poker pro involvement for the site. Possibly the most important detail that has thus far surfaced about the planned network is the fact that it will remain open to US-based players.
According to Jennifer Larson, Lock Poker’s CEO, for Lock Poker officials the move is a dream come true. She also said that while the Merge Network was an important stepping stone for her company indeed, Lock Poker has simply outgrown it.

In other news: bwin.party has been concocting different ways to smooth its path back into the US online poker market for a while, striking various deals and partnerships with US-based companies. Last week, bwin.party have taken aim at California, the most recent state to join the list of US jurisdictions which are more or less seriously considering the legalization and the regulation of online poker. The site struck a 10-year deal with the United Auburn Indian Community, to offer online poker services in the state of California if and when legalization should occur.
The most recent legal attempt to legalize and regulate the game in California was the introduction of an online poker bill by two California state senators in February. Unlike DC, where the small population is a serious challenge to the viability of an intra-state online poker operation, California’s size and population do indeed make it a prime target in this respect.
